7 red lipsticks I love

best-red-lipsticks

After over one year of never not having red nail polish, I’m giving my nails a break and a chance to recover from at least 24 gel manicures (more on that in another post). I’m so used to that pop of red that I’ve found myself reaching instead for red lipstick most days. These are my favorites from a very extensive collection. Tony from Tom Ford’s Lips & Boys collection is the darkest of the bunch but still a very true, cool-toned red. Wander Beauty’s Parisian Red is the easiest way to wear a red lip — it’s a more sheer, buildable color and the most comfortable formula. The YSL 1 Le Rouge is a classic red with a satin finish, my preference. The mini Marc Jacobs was a Sephora VIB exclusive at one point but the formula is the same as this one. My drugstore pick is L’Oreal’s Blake’s Red, another classic shade. The only liquid lipstick I’ve tried and loved is this Stila Stay All Day! The mini above in shade Beso is available as a 100 point reward at Sephora right now. And lastly, a beautiful orangey red is Charlotte Tilbury’s Tell Laura from the Hot Lips collection. Clearly I can’t have enough red lipsticks so if I’m missing your favorite, let me know below!

Much of my favorite new makeup this season is from the drugstore where beauty brands are really stepping up their offerings. I first tried the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer a couple of months ago and haven’t used anything else since, the color is light and buildable and the compact smells vaguely of a tropical vacation. The quality and color selection of L’Oreal’s Infallible Eyeshadow is shocking considering the price — I’m collecting more shades with each trip but my favorites right now are Amber Rush and Glistening Garnet. Milani’s Everyday Eyes Eyeshadow palette in Bare Necessities is the perfect range of neutrals to travel with if you’re packing light. Sonia Kashuk’s Bronzer/Blush Duo is really glowy, makes doing makeup quick and is more natural looking while the NYX Ombre Blush is more bright so I’ll just tap it on lightly for a pretty flush of color. Revlon’s Ultra HD Matte Lipstick is the most comfortable liquid, matte lipstick I’ve tried — not only that, it smells delicious and stays on so well. Let me know below if you have a favorite new drugstore makeup launch I should try!
