Last weekend we took a trip to the Monmouth Park racetrack thanks to America’s Best Racing. My hope for this summer was to go on as many fun East Coast day trips as possible so I was so excited when they reached out — a day trip and an excuse to dress up!

We started the day with a VIP tour of the stables with trainer Liam Benson. He told us so much about the behind-the-scenes of horse racing and introduced us to the horses he trains. The horse in the photos above was so sweet (she even posed for a selfie with me)! Then we headed to the track to watch the races. Dan and Victoria with America’s Best Racing taught us how to read the stats for each horse and different ways to bet. There’s a lot of math involved (not my strong suit, to say the least) so I wound up picking based on the horse’s name I liked best!

This pretty printed maxi dress from Anthropologie was perfect for our day at the races. It’s loose and lightweight so I think it would be a cute dress for a summer wedding, too. I wore it with a Panama hat and lace-up flats. Blue and back has been one of my favorite color pairings for quite some time now!
