A couple of months ago I, somewhat hesitantly, swapped my Clarisonic for Foreo’s LUNA mini. While the products in my skincare routine change every few months, cleansing devices have been part of my routine for the past couple of years. If you’ve heard the buzz about this device, I’m sure you’ve thought about giving it a try. Here’s what converted me to the LUNA vs Clarisonic!
First of all, the size is really convenient. The LUNA mini is tiny enough to fit on my over-stuffed bathroom shelf or in the shower – it’s completely waterproof – and is really lightweight so it’s easy to travel with. I never brought my Clarisonic when I traveled because it was too bulky and would inevitably run out of charge. This one comes with a rechargeable USB cable and says it lasts about 300 uses with one charge.
Instead of a brush head you have to rinse or replace, it’s made of nonabrasive, nonporous silicone which means no bacteria build-up. Not only is it more hygienic, it also eliminates the cost of replacing brush heads every few months. The tiny nubs called touch-points work with the device’s T-Sonic pulsations (up to 8,000 per minute) to cleanse your skin more effectively. The touch-points on the back are a little bigger – that side is for deep cleansing. Foreo says the LUNA mini is suitable for any skin type but I was still pleasantly surprised at how gentle it is. My skin is pretty sensitive to products but also to the touch, as in I usually get red after exfoliating, but it wasn’t bad even when I used the device with an exfoliator.
The LUNA mini is set to run for one minute with a little buzz every 15 seconds to alert you to move to the next area of your face. There are two speeds, I usually use it on the first one (second is softer) after I’ve removed my makeup with this micellar water. I love how simple it is to use – just apply your regular cleanser, wet the device before using it and rinse it off when you’re done.
I noticed a bigger difference in my skin once I started using this compared to my old cleansing routine. My skin felt softer and looked brighter almost immediately and the products I follow it with seem to absorb better. I don’t get as many breakouts with this routine and I love not having to keep track of when to replace a brush or charge the device.
