5 face masks I can’t live without

When it comes to skincare, I love a face mask. It’s without a doubt my favorite step in my skincare routine. No matter how my skin feels, the right face mask can make such an improvement right away. I’ll never stop testing out new masks but these are my tried-and-true favorites. Whether you’re looking to clear and purify, hydrate and balance or brighten and renew, there’s a face mask below that’s bound to pique your interest and get your complexion back on track.

Origins Active Charcoal Mask

I’ve gone through so many of these charcoal masks that I lost count. Instead of waiting for my skin to act up, I typically use this mask once a week to keep it feeling clear and healthy. Start by steaming your face with a towel soaked in hot water to open pores so the charcoal and white clay can really get in to draw out dirt and toxins.

May Lindstrom The Problem Solver

The genius behind this purifying powder mask is that it only activates when mixed with water, giving you the highest potency of the stellar organic ingredients (clay, cacao, vitamin C, charcoal, turmeric, the list goes on) with every use. I use this detoxifying mask anytime my skin feels congested as like a reset button. It helps heal spots, reduces inflammation, tightens pores and leaves skin glowing. Mix equal parts powder and water and it turns into a mousse which I apply with a face mask brush. The mask can take up to an hour to dry, so use it when you have time to relax.

Fresh Rose Face Mask

This cult-favorite face mask is packed with pure rosewater, rose petals, green tea, aloe vera and cucumber extract. It’s at once moisturizing, soothing, toning and cooling so it’s wonderful to use when skin is dry or puffy or after getting a little sunburned. The scent is so relaxing, too. You only need to leave it on about ten minutes to see results but I’ll often leave it on for double if I have the time.

Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask

There’s absolutely no irritation involved with this powerful natural peel, and that’s coming from someone with skin on the sensitive side. I find it’s best used in the morning or when you have extra time to get ready for a big event to guarantee a good, glowy skin day. The jelly-like formula is packed with beta hydroxy acids, rose clay and willow bark to remove dead skin cells, make pores look smaller, skin look smoother and bring out a true lit-from-within glow. I like to leave it on for about 45 minutes, rinse and follow with a moisturizer, then apply my makeup.

Caudalie Glycolic Peel

This is the perfect mask to do the night before a big event. Really all four of the Caudalie masks are incredible but this one stands out because it’s unlike any other peel I’ve tried. Usually I can feel a peel working and that tingle has come to signal it’s doing its job. Not this one – it’s so gentle, no tingling or redness, yet still incredibly effective. I appreciate that it’s mostly natural ingredients including papaya which is one of my favorite ingredients for boosting radiance.
